Samuel Strong, a resident of Hawarden at various times during the past twenty years, passed away at the Yankton, S. D., hospital Saturday. He had been in failing health for some time and gradually grew weaker until death claimed him.

Funeral services were held at Yankton Monday afternoon with Rev. Odlund, pastor of the Lutheran church of Yankton in charge. He was laid to rest in the Yankton cemetery.

Samurl Strong was born at Ridlott, Ill., Jan. 30, 1877, and died at Yankton, S. D., Dec. 19, 1931, at the age of 54 years, 10 months and 19 days. On Feb. 12, 1910, he was united in marriage with Miss Clara Swenson. One daughter, Ruby Strong, was born to this union. Besides his wife and daughter he is survived by his aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Strong of Alcester; four brothers, Clinton, Art and Ira Strong of Alcester and P. M. Strong of Hawarden, and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Arter and Mrs. Nellie Tux, Both of Alcester.

Mr. Strong was a painter by trade and at various time during the past twenty years worked at the trade here in partnership with his brother, P. M. Strong. He had numerous friends here who extend sympathy to them members of his family. --Hawarden Independent.
