THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
Lenore Zita (Ritter) Pearey, 78, of Cambridge, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Waterford of Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley, with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 10, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.
Lenore was born Feb. 27, 1931, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, to Eddie and Vivian (McConkey) Ritter. She was a 1949 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines. In March 1956, she married Elwin L. Pearey in Princeton, Mo. She loved collecting dolls and traveling. Her trips took her to Spain to watch the bullfights, Africa to ride camels, Hawaii, Ireland, Alaska, Russia, China, Korea and Vietnam.
She is survived by her husband, Elwin Pearey, of Cambridge; two sons, Raymon Greenwood, of Boone, and Steven Pearey, of Cambridge; two daughters, Linda Greenwood Robinson, of Cambridge, and Lynn Ann Pearey Hood, of Des Moines; six grandchildren; one brother, Terry Ritter, of Yale; four sisters, LaVonne Blount, Sandra LaGuria and Margo Ritter, all of Des Moines, and Beverly Rooker, of Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Joseph; and one brother, Richard Ritter.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lenore’s name at the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
