THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Fri, January 29, 2010.
Arlo Dean Erickson, 78, of Slater, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, with Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Arlo Dean Erickson was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Madrid, to Kermit and Beulah Mae (Storing) Erickson. He graduated from Sheldahl High School in 1949. On Nov. 22, 1953, he married Lois Christensen.
Arlo was a farmer, served in the National Guard, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a pilot and loved flying; he also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Slater; daughter, Mary Ann Ward, of Rosalia, Wash.; two sons, Alan (Lu Ann) Erickson, of Kelley, and Wayne Erickson, of Slater; brother, Orin (Norma) Erickson, of Slater; sister-in-law, Bernice Allen; brother-in-law, LeRoy (Louise) Christensen, of Pocahontas; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
His parents preceded him in death.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
