Ruth Sharon (Brady) Looschen, 71, of Ames, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, after a fall in her home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in Des Moines.

Sharon was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Akron, to J. Eldon and Carrie (Akers) Brady. The family moved to Grand Junction in 1947, where Sharon graduated from high school. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science degree. She married Mark Looschen, of Ames, in 1965. She was active in the Episcopal churches of Ames and Des Moines. She loved Eastern Star activities, serving as Grand Marshall at one time. More recently she has enjoyed events with her Red Hat group.

She is survived by one brother, John C. (Pat) Brady; one nephew, John B. Brady; and two nieces, Jana (Scott) Dewhurst and Joy Brady.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; her parents; and one niece, Judith Brady.

Memorials may be given to Youth and Shelter Services of Ames or Episcopal Relief and Development Fund.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
