THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 17, 2010.

Howard Dickerson, 75, of McCallsburg died Jan. 15, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. A time of remembrance will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at the American Legion in McCallsburg. Private family burial will be at a later date inWarren Township Cemetery.

Howard was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Winnigan, Mo., to Millard and Fern (Walters) Dickerson. He attended school near Stanhope and Story City. After many years of traveling the country, he lived in McCallsburg and worked as a welder in Zearing, at Sunstrand in Ames, and trucking long distance.

After retiring, he began woodworking and did many integrant projects and many larger ones.

To the end, Howard always had a playful smile and joke for those who could joke back or could laugh with him.

He will be missed by the love of his life of 22 years, Kay Eurom; daughter Amanda Johnson; grandson, Joe Eichler; sister, Prisilla (Richard) Sigmund; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving him is Kay’s family: John (Deb) Eurom, Anita Cullor, Doug (Kelly) Eurom; grandchildren Sherry, Laura, Joshua, Philip, Jessica and Rebecca; and great-grandchildren Denton and Dominic.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
