Esther Marie Christian, 84, of Nevada, died of a heart attack on Wednesday, July 9, at her home in Nevada.

She was born to Magnes and Frances (Anderson) Hemnes near Roland on Jan. 7, 1913.

On Jan. 7, 1934, she marred Leonard Christian. She lived as a homemaker, and was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. She lived in Roland until 1984, when she moved to Nevada.

Survivors include a son, Larry (and Nancy) Christian, of Nevada; a sister, Myrtle Peterson, of Stayton, Ore.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson. of Garden City, Brad Christian, of Beloit, Wis., and Brent Christian, of Nevada; three great-grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Jr., Talia Christian and Nicholas Christian; and a brother, Merle Hemnes, of Boone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Floyd, Andrew and Fred Hemnes; and one sister, Abbie Thompson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with the Rev. Conrad Rolland officiating. Burial was in the Roland Cemetery. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland handled arrangements.
