Frances Manning Morgan, 86, of Ames, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Northcrest Health Care Unit. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, Sixth Street and Kellogg Avenue, in Ames. Burial will be at the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Frances Manning Morgan, 86, of Ames, died at Northcrest Health Care Unit on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, Sixth Street and Kellogg Avenue in Ames. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Frances Manning Morgan was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Keosaqua, Iowa, the daughter of Bates and Madge (Landes) Manning. She graduated from Ames High School. She married Paul Morgan on Jan. 6, 1945, in Larchmont, New York.
During her 70 years living in Ames, Fran was a member of PEO Chapter HN for 50 years, ISU Faculty Women’s Club, Questers. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational. Fran and Paul made their home at Northcrest and appreciated the compassionate care Fran received in the Health Care Unit the last fourteen months.
Fran is survived by her husband, Paul, of Ames; sons, Jack (Randi), of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Mike (Genelle), of Pella; daughter, Betty (John) Morgan Pittman, of Parker, Colo.; grandchildren: Tom (Andrea) Morgan, John Morgan, Lisa (Anthony) Alvino, Sara Morgan (John Shaffer), Kelly Pittman, Jeffrey Pittman and Jane Pittman; and great granddaughters Isabella and Catherine Alvino.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Friedmeyer; and brother, John Manning.
Memorials may be directed to Northcrest Retirement Community or United Church of Christ-Congregational, of Ames.
