THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Thomas Janicki, 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, in Ames, due to health complications. Tom was a member of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames. His memorial service will be at a later date under the direction of the Rev. Dr. Brian Eslinger.

Thomas Janicki was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Milwaukee, the son of Clarence and Delores Janicki. He graduated high school in 1962, attended college in Wisconsin then moved to California. He spent several decades in California, employed with YellowPages. Upon retiring, he returned to the Midwest to reside permanently in the Ames area and enjoy a slower pace of life.

He was an avid dog lover and dedicated owner of Browser and Brody. He was a very expressive individual with lots of spirit and a superb sense of humor.

Surviving are one brother, Tim Janicki, of Emery, S.D.; one sister, Patty Rottmann, of Milton, Wis.; nieces, Heather Lujano, of Washington, Iowa, and Erin Ackerson, of Gowrie; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael Janicki and Terry Janicki; beloved friend, Henry; and three pets whom he adored, Pema, Bandit and Smokey.
