Gene L. Christian, 77, of Pharr, Texas died Sunday, November 1, 2009 of sudden heart failure. Memorial services were held November 3, 2009 at Texas Trails RV Resort where he lived. A second Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa and Internment of ashes at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa this spring.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lavanda (Bonnie) Christian; daughters, Cynthia Brown, Sonja Haferbier, Rebecca Cross, Teresa Bowers, Eugenia Eslick, Joyce Garza and two sons, Allan Christian and Jim Thomas; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
