Dec. 20, 2008Funeral services for Erma Shorten, 84, of East Moline, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Moline, where she had been a member.
Mrs. Shorten died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Erma Olson was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Story County, Iowa, the daughter of Nels and Elsie Bralen (Braland) Olson. She married John Shorten Oct. 22, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died Dec. 2, 1978.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had been very proud of her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Bud Felts, Davenport; son, Bob Shorten, Milan; grandchildren (spouse), Nicholas Shorten, Michael (Jen) Shorten, Brian Felts, John (Ashley) Felts, David Felts; stepgrandchildren (spouse), Tammy (John) Hoyman and Tom (Kate) Felts; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Shorten, Seth and Kiera Felts, Anna and Jack Hoyman, Max Felts; brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Arlene Olson, Pontiac, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, and one brother.
