THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 4, 2009.

Zelma M. Huff, 97, of Nevada, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 28, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 27, at Bacon Funeral Home.

Zelma was born July 21, 1912 at Nevada, the daughter of Claude James and Georgia Lois (Stahlman) Post. She grew up in Nevada and entered kindergarten at the West School in Nevada at the age of 5. She was baptized at the age of 12 and has been a member of United Methodist Church in Nevada for more than 50 years. She attended Central School and High School in Nevada, graduating in 1930. She attended Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls and taught school at the Wilderness School for two years. She worked in the clerical department of Donnelley Marketing for more than 20 years.

She married Alexander Theodore Donald Olson on June 19, 1932, at the home of her parents in Nevada. He preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1985. She married Harold E. Huff in 1991 in Nevada. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She was a longtime member of Nevada First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the Solomen Dean Chapter of D.A.R, Billy Sunday Chapter of Questers, Methodist Quilters, Mary Circle of United Methodist Church, several Bible study groups, and Child Study Club. She will be remembered for her beautiful china painting and the classes of china painting taught in her home. She loved flower gardening, reading, bridge and all types of sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting (having made and assisted making twenty-five quilts.)

She is survived by four sons, Donald E. (Marjorie) Olson, of Sun City West, Ariz.; Robert E. (Faye) Olson, of Nevada; Karl E. (Tressa) Olson, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; David (Shirley) Olson, of Edina, Minn.; one step-son, Galen (Virginia) Huff, of Minnesota; nine grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Arline Lyons, of Tempe, Ariz., and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one granddaughter, Rebecca Olson; two sisters, Jeanette Getting and Joan DeBruyn; and one brother, William Post.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in Nevada.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
