THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 4, 2009.

Margaret Marie Elliott, 78, of Ames, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

She was a founding member of Westside Church of Christ in Ames. Her greatest passion was her family, and she hosted a monthly family day for many years. Her other passions were singing gospel music and bird watching.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Thornton; six children, Gail Elliott, of Colorado, Linda (Wayne) Karstens, of Indianola, Roger (Anita), of Ames, Stanley (Joyce), of Nevada, David, of New Jersey, and Gary (Michelle), of Ames; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Israel Family Hospice House.
