Norman “Ike” Clouser, 78, a longtime resident of Gilbert and Ames, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kan. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Grace Bible Church (formerly Congregational Church) in Gilbert, with burial immediately following in Gilbert Cemetery.

Norman Dale Clouser was born Feb. 3, 1931, in Gilbert, to George and Dorothy Clouser. Ike served in the military (regular army) from September 1948 to June 1952, when he received an honorable discharge from the armed forces for his duty. He was employed by Iowa State University for 34 1/2 years before he retired in 1991. He enjoyed music, golf, playing cards and dancing. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Clouser, of Manhattan, Kan.; former spouse, Norma Clouser, of Ames; son, Steven Clouser, of Orange County, Calif.; daughter, Rebecca (Randy) Johnson, of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; son, Rodney (Mel) Clouser, of Ames; daughter, Lisa Clouser Thomas, of Ames; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Watson and Lavonne (Richard) Bark, both of Ames; one brother, Gerald (Pat) Clouser, of Ames; and a half-sister, Marlene (Paul) Weigel, of Boone.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth “Bud” Clouser.
Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association or Collins Landing at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community.
