Thomas Stanley Okland, 81, died Saturday, October 31 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Services were held Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Burial was at Fjelberg Cemetery in Huxley, Iowa.
Stanley was born October 26, l928 in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Kelley High School and Iowa State University. He taught agriculture at Tama, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany l951-l952. He was a member of Fjelberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa and had resided at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown the past 20 years. Stanley made many friends at the Veterans Home and enjoyed working with ceramics and many other activities there. He always had a smile to share.
Survivors include two sisters, Lois Hove (Gordon) of Mesa, Arizona and Dorothy Burger (Ken) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters-in-law Margaret Okland, Carol Okland, and Norma Okland and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Edith Okland, brothers Kenneth, Marlowe, and Leo.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown for their many years of excellent care for him.
