MARENGO — Wayne E. Huebner, age 83 of Marengo, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa following a short illness. Private family graveside services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Nevada Cemetery, Nevada, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, Iowa with military honors conducted at 7:00 P.M.

Wayne is survived by a granddaughter Hollie Waterbury and husband Chris of Marengo, a grandson Jayson Huebner, stationed in Italy; three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Ajay, and Andon Waterbury; a nephew Kent Sorensen of Nevada and a daughter-in-law, Angie Huebner of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, L. Wayne and Scott, a sister Geraldine Sorensen and a niece Linda Sorensen.

Wayne Earl Huebner was born on July 24, 1926 in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Bertha Johannsen Huebner. He received his education in the Nevada schools and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the military, he was employed as a technician with GT&E General Telephone for many years. Wayne was a member of the Marengo American Legion Post #76.
