THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

Timothy I. Killam III, 73, of Ames, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at First United Methodist Church in Ames, with Pastor Fred Lewis and Chaplain Henrietta Klarenbeek officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Adams Funeral Home.

Timothy I. Killam III was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Indianola, to Earl DeWitt and Henrietta (Celley) Killam. On Dec. 28, 1957, he married Shirley Hicks. He was in customer relations at Hy-Vee for 30 years, retiring in January 1988. He was a member of the Army National Guard.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons play slow-pitch softball and spent 40 years vacationing with his family at Cass Lake, Minn.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, Tim I. (Ouna) Killam IV and Jeff (Barb Kirk) Killam; grandchildren, Erica (Eric Helland) and their daughter, Jilliouna, Jason Killam and his son, Cael, Chad Killam, Alex Killam, Trent Killam, Sara Kirk, David Kirk and Anthony Kirk; one brother, James P. Killam; and two sisters, Mary Lou Sargent and Margaret Greener.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Henrietta Killam; three brothers, Robert E., John L. and Phillip D. Killam; and two sisters, Carolyn Mills and Ruth Townsend.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Guffy and Bliss Cancer Center.

Memorials may be given to Israel Family Hospice House or First United Methodist Church.

Adams Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.
