Stella Huff, of Nevada, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at her home. Funeral services are pending with Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Stella Louise Huff, 79, of Nevada, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nevada with Pastor Richard Judson officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada.

Stella was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Laurel County, Ky., to John and Opal (Watkins) Watkins. On Aug. 24, 1948, she married Carlis Huff in Laurel River, Ky. She had been employed by Mary Greeley Medical Center when she retired. After her retirement, she worked at the Nevada schools. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Carlis Huff, of Nevada; one son, John Huff, of Milford, Conn.; two daughters, Sharon (Keith) Hunt, of Edmore, Mich., and Linda (Jon) Carleton, of Colo; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Watkins, of Louisville, Ky.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, James Buford; one daughter, Brenda Combs on May 14, 1988; one son, Scott Alan Huff in September 1984; one brother, Wayne Watkins; and one sister, Joyce Hazelwood.

A memorial fund has been established in Stella’s name.
