THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, October 2, 2009.

Harold “Poppy” Nagle Sr., 81, a resident of the Madrid Home, formerly of Ames, was called home Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, surrounded by his loved ones. In agreement with Poppy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service honoring Poppy’s life will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the Sanborn Memorial Chapel at the Madrid Home in Madrid. Private committal services will take place at a later date at Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames. The Iles Funeral Homes, Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Poppy was born April 24, 1928. In his later years, Poppy made peace with God and his life. He became a blessing as he reached out to others. Poppy’s gift was in validating people.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Linda Archambault, Steve and Sherry Thomas, and Harold Nagle Jr., all of Nevada, Paula Nagle, of Des Moines, Lorna Lavender, of Ames, and Rhonda and Matt Lawlor, of Madrid; four siblings, Paul, Jean, Pat and Sandy; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful workers at the Madrid Home who know, cared for and remained friends to the end with Harold.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Madrid Home Mentor Fund, 613 W. North St., Madrid, IA, 50156.
