THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, September 30, 2009.

Clara JoAnne Ihle, 87, of Slater, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Madrid Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Madrid Home, with Chaplain Carla Werre and Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Madrid Home.

Clara JoAnne Ihle was born April 29, 1922, in Marathon City, Wis., to John and Clara (Brandt) Schumacher. She married Mervin Ihle Oct. 14, 1944, in Quonset Pointe, R.I.

She was a bookkeeper at Ihle Implement. Her hobbies included ceramics, reading, making kringla, playing the piano and organ, flowers and gardening, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her children, Everett (Shirley) Ihle, of Huxley, James (Sheila) Ihle, of Memphis, Tenn., Mary (Paul) Thompson, of Woodward, and Janice (Peter) Schma, of Richardson, Texas; one brother, Edward Schumacher; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin, Oct. 27, 1998; two sisters and five brothers.

Memorials may be given to Madrid Home or Hospice.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
