THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 29, 2009.

Helen Marie Soy, 96, of Ames, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Riverside Manor in Ames. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Her body has been cremated and burial will be at a later date.

Helen Soy was born June 15, 1913, in Rudd, to Harvey and Marie Roy. She had been a waitress at Maid-Rite and Marion’s restaurant in Ames and a cashier at Fareway for more than 14 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames.

She is survived by four daughters, Doris Reese, of West Des Moines, Elsie Baden, of Dallas, Pat (Cliff) Lieske, of Minnesota, and Jeanne Miller, of Estero, Fla.; two sons, Bill (Carol) Soy, of Ames, and Joseph Soy, of Pilot Mound; 17 grandchildren; and 20-plus great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Deloris Lumen; three sisters; and one brother.
