THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, August 21, 2009.
Craig Stephen McMullin, 52, of Idaho Springs, Colo., son of Gene and JoAn McMullin, of Prairie City, was killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at St. George, Utah, on his way home following a trip to California where he spent time with his son, Matthew, and daughter, Megan, and her fiancé, Ben Willet. He spent time with his parents who were vacationing in the Lake Tahoe area and visited his brother, Eric and wife, Alice, and brother, Kurt and wife, Nobuko, and their four children.
A celebration of life will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Foothill Chapel in Golden, Colo. Tentative plans are being made for a celebration of life in Prairie City on the anniversary of his death.
Craig was a graduate of Prairie City High School and Iowa State University. He received a master of business administration from the University of Denver and was employed as executive director of the North America Association of Free Community Papers, with an office in Denver, Colo. Craig’s career in the newspaper business included the Des Moines Register, the Denver Post, Ames Tribune and the owner and publisher of Clear Creek Courant of Idaho Springs, Colo.
He married Marilyn Brandhof in August 1975. She is also a graduate of Prairie City High School.
In addition to those previously mentioned, left to mourn are a brother, Mark and special friend, Gail DeGeorge; and brother, Brad and wife, Kameri, and their two children.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Hazel (Olson) Lark, of Ogden, and Paul and Marie (Baker) McMullin, of Granger.
Memorials may be sent to Gene and JoAn McMullin, 705 W. James St., Prairie City, IA, 50228. Memorials will be used for various causes in his memory.
