Mrs. Sarah Brouhard Was Laid to Rest

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah Brouhard in the Evangelical church at Colo last Tuesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. L. H. Wood.

Music was furnished by a ladies' quartet, composed of Mrs. Lloyd Lounsberry, Mrs. Merle Dickinson, Mrs. charles Yeager and Mrs. H. L. Hemping, with Mrs. Earl Robison at the piano. burial was in the Colo cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Harold and Kenneth Brouhard of Nevada, Harold White and Robert Broouhard of Des Moines, Linncoe Brouhard of State Center and Clayton Brouhard of Colo. The two other grandsons, Donald and Wm. C. Brouhard Jr., of Zearing, conducted the funeral services.

The flowers were exceptionally beautiful, and were cared for by Mrs. Merle Farren, Mrs. Lloyd Cummings and Mrs. Leo Wilson.

Those from a distance attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Sarsfield of Atlantic, Charles Sarsfield of Chicago, Mrs. Rose Waters, Humes Cummings, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Keeney, Mr. and Mrs. Harold White and Robert Brouhard of Des Moines, Roy L. Cook of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Frank Linn, Mrs. Roy Brown of State Center. John and Maud Swart and Mrs. Wilbur Wilkinson of Collins. Wayne Sargent and Elinor Dunahoo of Maxwell, Grant Cummings of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Dakins, Mrs. C. O. Bump, Mrs. Ida Dool, Mrs. Wm. Thomas, Mrs. Carl Lura of Zearing, Mr. and Mrs. John Moran, Mrs. Addie Cook, Ernie Gretten, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boyd, Mrs. Lou Sarsfield and son Arthur, and George Connolly, all of Nevada.

Sarah Jane Broouhard, daughter of Andrew and Mary Sarsfield, was born at Gardenflower, McHenry county, Ill., August 23, 1857, and departed this life April 4, 1937, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 12 days.

When a small child she moved with her parents to Anamosa, Ia. Later, while yet a young girl, she, with her brother, Robert Sarsfield, came to Colo, where she has since resided.

On June 27, 1882, at Colo, she was united in marriage to Barnett Brouhard. To this union were born six children, two girls dying in infancy. The surviving children are William C. of Zearing, Mrs. Pearl White, who lived with her mother, Earl H. of Nevada, and John L. of Colo, at whose home she passed away. Also two step-daughters, Mrs. Hattie Fowler of Nevada and Mrs. Rose Spratt of Marshalltown; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Reba Roges of fullerton, Calif.; three brothers, Robert Sarsfield of Nevada and John and Andrew Sarsfield of Atlantic, Ia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother and her husband, who passed away Aug. 21, 1908. She was a charter member of the Colo Evangelical church.
