Irma Irene Curley, 91, of Calvin Community in Des Moines, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the First Christian Church in Nevada, with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.
Irma was born Dec. 25, 1917, in Osceola, to George W. and Blanche Harlan O'Neall. Irma was a member of the Nevada Christian Church and was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved dancing, country music, gardening and crafting.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Judy (Jack) Boughton, of Van Meter; a daughter-in-law, Susan Sams, of Whitten; six grandchildren, Roxanne (Ron) Penick, of Peoria, Ill., Leah Arney, of Mission, Kan., Mike Sams, of Eldora, and Jim Sams, Charles Sams and Gary Sams, all of Whitten; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Curley; a sister, Lena Beymer; and a son, Stanley K. Sams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Kavanagh House, 900 56th St., Des Moines, Iowa.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of funeral arrangements.
