THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, June 20, 2009.

Donald R. Watts, 91, of Eldora, formerly of Ames, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the Eldora Nursing Home. No services are planned.

He was born in Story County to Fred and Winona (Soderstrum) Watts. He served in the military during World War II and was a maintenance man at the Department of Transportation for 30 years.

He married Bonita Thompson Nov. 23, 1946, in Ames. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by one son, Larry (Kathi) Watts, of Ames; and one sister, Bessie Swanson, of Cambridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bonnie in April 2009; two brothers, Owen and Bernard; and two sisters, Mildred Ruby and Elizabeth Miller.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
