Harold William Jensen, 84, formerly of Ames and Audubon, passed from this life on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. A celebration of Harold's life was held on Sunday evening, June 14, in the Sanborn Memorial Chapel at the Madrid Home ? located at 613 W. North Street. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15, at Grand Avenue Baptist Church ? located at 612 24th Street in Ames, followed by lunch where the family greeted relatives and friends. Graveside committal services took place at Fjeldberg Lutheran Cemetery, just south of Huxley.
Harold was born on October 24, 1924 in Audubon County, Iowa to Edward and Laura (Diest) Jensen. On February 14, 1954, Harold married Lois Nadine Jensen in Exira, Iowa and their marriage was blessed with five sons. He was a farmer in Audubon County most of his life along with being employed as a heavy equipment operator for nearly 20 years. Harold moved to Ames in 1994 and then to Madrid in 2006. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Lois of Madrid; five sons, Danny (Dorothy) of Murray, IA, Dean (Dianne) and Duane (Danelle) both of Ames, David (Kim) of Huxley and Dickson (Luann) also of Ames; sister, Lorraine Anderson of Carroll; 19 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brady) Rasmus, Jocelyn, Julianna, Lucas, Bradley, Laura, Nicholas, Amanda (Jonathan) Philgreen, Benjamin, Gregory, Rebecca, Jonathan, Sara, Joseph, Blake, Alyssa, Samantha, Mason and Kolby; and two great-granddaughters, Aubri Rasmus and Abigail Philgreen. Harold is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold was preceded into eternal life by his parents, and one grandson, Zachary Jensen.
The Iles Funeral Homes - Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
