JOHN QUAM OF ROLAND DEAD

ROLAND — John Quam, 66, died suddenly at his home here Thursday morning. He had suffered a stroke during the night. Mr. Quam underwent an operation two years ago and had been in failing health since that time.

Born on a farm near Ottawa, Ill., Mr. Quam came to this community at the age of 18. After his marriage he purchased a farm two miles north of Roland where he resided until last spring when he and his wife moved to town.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and 2 o'clock from the Salem Lutheran church. The Rev. Olaf Holen will be in charge. Burial will be in the Poland cemetery.

Surviving are his wife and the following children, Mrs, Martin Moe, Rose Quam and Earl Quam of Roland, Roy of Mantorville, Minn., Mrs. Charles Paul, Mrs. Aaron Osborne and Grant Quam of Los Angeles, Cal.

Three brothers also survive, Ed, Luther and W. W. Quam, all of Roland.

A niece, Mrs. Dan McLeod, jr., resides in Ames.
