Edward "Ed" Harold Ballentine
July 3, 1916 - Nov. 10, 2002

Edward "Ed" Harold Ballentine, 86, of Bettendorf, formerly of Nevada, died Sunday, Nov. 10, at Genesis Hospital in Davenport from complications of a heart attack. Graveside services were held Nov. 13 at Evergreen Memorial Garden Cemetery near Nevada. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada handled the arrangements.

Edward "Ed" Harold Ballentine was born July 3, 1916, in Leon, Ohio, the son of William David and Floy Del (Norman) Ballentine. He was united in marriage to F. Ruth Frazier on Nov. 21, 1941, in Andover, Ohio. He served in the Army and was a sales manger for the Central Petroleum Company. He retired in 1981. He had lived in Andover, Ohio, Kokomo, Ind., and Nevada, moving to Bettendorf in 1995. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his own plane.

He is survived by two sons, Edward "Ed" (and Patty) Ballentine Jr. of Sterling, Va., and Blaine (and Tatiana) Ballentine of Bettendorf; four grandchildren; a brother, John Ballentine of Andover, Ohio; and a sister, Virginia Dustman of Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth, on Feb. 28, 1994; four brothers; William David Jr., Norman, Timothy and Fred; and three sisters, Mary Ellen, Kate Mossbarger and Julia Russell.
