Rosella Lea Chitty, 63, of rural Nevada, died of stomach cancer on Sunday, April 20, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Marysville to Everett Earl and Daisy Lea (Creech) King. She was a 1957 Fernald High School graduate. she married Charles Chitty on Nov. 10, 1957, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ames. She was the food service director at the Story County Care Facility from 1971 to 1989 and at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines from 1990 to 2000. She also farmed with her husband, until his death in 1989. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Marty (and Jenny) Chitty and Matthew (and Arlys) Chitty, both of Nevada; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Marcella Clark of Bussey and Rena Crawford of Ankeny.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles on Jan. 26, 1989; a son, Michael on March 13, 1979; and a brother, Dennis King.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 23, at Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Memory Gardens in Nevada.
