Russell Chitty, 69, died Thursday, services Monday

Russell J. Chitty, age 69, R.R. 2, Nevada, died Thursday afternnon at the Mary Greeley Hopital in Ames where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. Funeral services will be held from the United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 3. Rev. Marvin Hulse will officiate with the burial in the Evergreen Memory Gardens.

Chitty was born Sept. 22. 1906 to Fred and Alice Chitty. He was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Story County. He married Mabelle B. Harrington on May 15, 1931.

He is survived by his wife, Mabelle; one son, Charles of Nevada; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara (James) Tighe of Lake Stevens, Wash.; seven grandsons; one brother Roy, of Zearing; and one sister, Mrs. Vernon Huntrods of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

The body will lie in state at the Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada from Saturday noon until Monday morning. A memorial fund has been established.
