MARJORIE ELAINE GRIFFITH

Marjorie Elaine Griffith, 61, of 503 5th St., Nevada, Ia., died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1985, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Ia., of heart failure.

She was born April 2, 1924, at Mingo, Ia., to William J. and Mary C. Akins Sager.

She was married Jan. 11, 1942, at Kirksville, Mo., to Roger Robert Griffith.

Mrs. Griffith was a long time Story County resident. She had worked for the National Animal Diseases Laboratory and had been a homemaker. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

She belonged to the Ladies' Auxiliary of the American Legion.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, with Pastor Don Rothweiler officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Steven of Colorado Springs, Colo., Roger Jr. of Cleborne, Tex., and Dean of Nevada,; four daughters, Mary Sue Whittaker and Roberta Sodt of Nevada, Patricia Byers of McCallsburg and Marilyn Vasquez of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, William Sager of Avon Park, Fla.; a sister, Laura Schmidt of Portland, Tenn., 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 2, 1979, her father on March 18, 1984; her mother on April 28, 1984, and a brother, Charles Sager.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Ballard, Steve Hohn, Jerry Hohn, Galen Lough, Jack Yoder and Kelly Haws. Hymns will include "The Lord's Prayer" and Amazing Grace."

Cooper-Ryan Funeral home, 5th St. and Lincoln Hwy., Nevada, is in charge of arrangements.
