Lydia Marie Bass, 74, of Bethany Manor, Story City IA, died Monday, April 6, 1987, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames IA. Death was due to a heart attack. She had been ill four months.

Mrs. Bass was born Feb. 17, 1913, to Pete and Angelina (Fontana) Manattini at Des Moines IA. She lived at Des Moines 64 years and at Nevada IA 10 years. She was married to Pascal Bass in 1942 at Davenport IA. He died in 1964.

Survivors include two daughters, Delores Sorem of Roland IA and Patricia Adams of Reno NV; a son, Prentice Bass of Oakland CA; two grandson, Dean L. Law of Billings MT and Marc Sorem of Roland; one granddaughter, Angie Sorem of Roland; a sister, Lillian Bochme of Des Moines, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bass had been a nurse's aide and a licensed practical nurse at Des Moines General Hospital, Des Moines.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at the First Evangelical Free Church, Ames, with Pastor Dean Johnson officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada.

Chet Ryan Mortuary, 5th St. and G Ave., Nevada, was in charge of arrangements.
