Clara L. Pitman, 88, of Story City, passed away on Friday morning, Nov. 14, 2008 at Bethany Manor Nursing Home in Story City. Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. Cremains will be buried in the Story City Cemetery.

Clara L. Pitman was born July 29, 1920, in Akra, Norway to Erik and Gurena (Olson) Dahl. She married Ray Pitman on August 4, 1940 in Otteson, Iowa. They resided in Eagle Grove, Ames and Story City, Iowa prior to moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Following Ray's death in 1997, Clara returned to Story City. Clara was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City. She was formerly a member of the Church of Joy in Sun City, Arizona and of the Sons of Norway in Sun City, Arizona.

Survivors include one daughter, Barb Clayberg of Story City; one son, Richard (Cynde) Pitman of Chandler, Arizona; one sister, Edith Fisher of Buffalo Center, Iowa; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son-in-law, James Clayberg and her twin brother, Oscar Dahl.

Memorials may be given to the Bethany Life Foundation in Story City.
