Earl Jerald Johnson March 6, 1925 - Jan. 24, 2005
Earl Jerald Johnson, 79, of Boone, died Monday, Jan. 24, in rural Boone. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 28, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames, with the Rev. Paul Williamson of Napier Methodist Church and the Rev. Sandy Anenson of Bethany Manor officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens.
Earl Jerald Johnson was born March 6, 1925, the son of Lloyd and Anna Mae (Hill) Johnson. He married Lillie Mae Hand and farmed near Story City in the Napier area until his retirement.
He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Hackbarth of Iowa City and Janet (Bob) Erb of Boone; one son, Steve (Sue) Johnson of Ames; one brother, Jude (Juanita) Johnson of Nevada; one sister, Lois (Malcolm) Turkington of Keizer, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Melissa and Chris Hackbarth of Hattiesburg, Miss., Andy Hackbarth of Iowa City, Sherry Johnson of Ames, Amanda Johnson of Nashville, Tenn., Amy Johnson of Iowa City, and Kyle (Sharon) Erb of Omaha, Neb.; one great grandson, Tucker Earl Erb of Omaha, Neb.; numerous nieces and nephews; and two aunts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillie on June 5, 1976; one brother, Merrill; one sister, Juella Clark; and one son, Gregory.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
