Gusta Jacobson Molde 1863 - 1954

Gusta Jacobson Molde was born at Sauda, Norway, on April 10, 1863, the daughter of Barbra and Johannes Jacobson. She came to America with her parents when a child and settled in Story county, where she attended the local schools.
On December 18, 1883 she was married to Osten T. Molde at the Bergen Lutheran church by Rev. C. B. Jacobson. They rented a farm for some time and later purchased the farm six miles south of Roland were they resided until 1919 when they purchased a residence in Roland where they made their home until their death.
Mrs. Molde passed away at her home in Roland on January 6, 1954, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her death, four children: Theodore Molde of Nevada, Julia (Mrs. T. B. Thompson) of Roland, Mabel (Mrs. Jonas Arneson) of Roland, and Gladys (Mrs. Frank Vail) of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, O. T. Molde, on March 4, 1934; one son Otis, on March 9, 1927; and daughters, Emma (Mrs. I. M. Halverson) on April 21, 1927; and Gertrude (Mrs. Leonard Larson) on September 23, 1945; and Tillie and Sylvia who died in infancy.
Mrs. Molde had lived in Story county for 81 years and was a member of an old pioneer family.
Mrs. Molde's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johannes Jacobson and their eight children left Sauda, Norway on April 16, 1871 for America and arrived at Quebec, Canada, and from there they went to Milwaukee, Wisc., by boat, arriving there on July 4, 1871, nearly three months after leaving Norway.
