Frances I. Danielson Oct. 5, 1908 - June 10, 1998

Frances I. Danielson, 89, of Roland, died of congestive heart failure Wednesday at Colonial Manor in Zearing. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bergen Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Conrad Rolland officiating. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.
Frances I. Danielson was born in Sioux City to Alonzo Edgar and Ingeborg Gurine (Britson) Humphrey. She lived in the Roland area most of her life. In 1924, she graduated from Roland High School, and in 1930 she graduated from Iowa State Teachers College. She earned a master's degree in child development from Columbia University in New York and took additional classes at Drake University and Iowa State University. She taught in the Des Moines Independent School District from 1930 to 1943, was in Venezuela for one year, began teaching at Roland Community Schools in 1960 and became an elementary school principal in the mid-1960s until her retirement in 1975. On July 27, 1945 she married Morris Rasmus Danielson in Roland. She was a member of Bergen Lutheran Church, where she was president of the LCW, a member of Wa-Tan-Ye, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Ladies Farm Bureau.
Survivors include one son, Mark Humphrey Danielson of Silverton, Colo.; one daughter, Ann Kristine Danielson-Gramlich of Roland; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. today at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland, with the family present from 6:30 to 8.
Memorials may be made to Bergen Lutheran Church or Roland-Story Elementary School.
