Evelyn Frances (Miskell) Schuler, 91 of Zearing, died on Friday, April 3, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Zearing following a long illness. Funeral services were held Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Evelyn F. Miskell was born on June 18, 1917 to Noel E. and Mayme (Rogers) Miskell on their homeplace farm at Stanhope, Iowa. She was the oldest of seven children and graduated from the Fernald High School in 1934. On November 3, 1937, Evelyn married Ernie A. Schuler at the Lutheran Parsonage in Nevada. She worked at Donnelley Marketing and helped with the family farming operation. They lived on the same farm since 1943, until she entered Colonial Manor in February of 2001. Evelyn enjoyed sewing, embroidering, craft projects, cooking for family dinners and wintering in Florida with friends. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ernie; three children, Shirley (Marlin) Klonglan of Nevada, Connie (Ron) Robinson of Keosauqua, and Robert (Faye) Schuler of Zearing; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Sean) McKee, Blaine (Lynelle) Klonglan, Nathan Robinson, Ross (Katie) Robinson, Nicolas (Kathy) Schuler, Jason Schuler, Katelyn Schuler and their mother, Marty Schuler; five great grandchildren, Zach and Molly McKee, Amelia and Zander Robinson and Brady Schuler; 2 step grandchildren, Kalya and Justin Phillips; 2 step great grandchildren, Cody Phillips and Melissa Kammin; a step great, great granddaughter, Myle Kammin; nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Margaret Hogg, Lucille Voogd, Irene Bowers, Opel Sperow, Josephine Miskell (in infancy) and a brother, Billie Joe Miskell.

Memorials may be given to Memorial Lutheran Church of Nevada or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Evelyn.
