Orlin Hanson

Orlin LeRoy Hanson, 66, Nevada, died of a coronary Thursday, Feb. 28, 1985. Services were held March 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Harvey Sigurdson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth.

Orlin Hanson was born Aug. 11, 1918 in Odin, Minn., to Thomas and Jenora (Marcus) Hanson. He graduated from Ellsworth schools. During World War II he served in the U.S. Marines. On May 17, 1942, he married Marina Vellijo in Phoenix, Ariz.

He was manager of the Ellsworth Turkey Plant for a number of years. He lived two years at Storm Lake and eight years in Nevada where he was supervisor of maintenance at Story County Hospital. He had been chief of the volunteer fire department in Ellsworth. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, Nevada, the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Marina; two daughters, Micki Zenor, Ames and Rosemary Alsager, Randall; six grandchildren; a brother, Wilmer Hanson, Jewell; and two sisters, Mildred Thorngren, Pilot Mound and Margaret Hage, Radcliffe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Osmund Soppeland; and a brother, William Soppeland.
