Kent Michael Phillips, 46, of Vienna, Va., and formerly of Story City, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, in a car accident in Virginia. Funeral services are pending at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Kent Michael Phillips, 46, of Vienna, Va., and formerly of Story City, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, as a result of an automobile accident in Virginia. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery near Story City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kent was born March 29, 1963, in Story City, to Michael and Kay (Munson) Phillips. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and was an engineer for Mitre Corp. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1987 and enjoyed computers and reading.

Kent is survived by his wife, Musik, of Vienna, Va.; two stepdaughters, Kristine Gade and Kathy Gelpe, both of Virginia; his mother, Kay Disbrowe, of Story City; his father, Michael Phillips, of Washington, D.C.; grandfather, Irving Wierson, of Story City; uncles, Paul (Karen) Munson, Jim (Connie) Phillips, and Steve (Wilda) Phillips; aunt, Marilyn (Joe) Emond, of Farmington, Minn.; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, David Disbrowe.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
