THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, March 27, 2009.

Dorothy Scott, 83, of Ames, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Private services were held.

Dorothy Scott was born Dec. 22, 1925, in Greene County, to Reid and Bertha (Van Cleave) Taylor. She operated Dorothy’s Beauty Shoppe for 20 years and was an independent realtor/broker at Dorothy Scott Real Estate.

Dorothy was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, Ames Women’s Club, Lincoln Highway Association, Margaret Stanton Questers, and Altrusa Club of Ames. She was a former president of Story County Republican Women and former president of Fourth District Republican Women.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis Scott, of Ames, and Ron (Jeannine) Scott, of San Jose, Calif.; special friends, Janet Tapscott-Hopper, of Ames, who was like a daughter, and Katherine Cook, of Olathe, Kan., who was like a granddaughter; grandchildren, Mark Scott, of Clearwater, Fla., Jamie Martin, of Fresno, Calif., and Heather Jackson, of San Diego; great-grandchildren, Allyson Martin, Matthew Scott and Taylor Martin; four brothers, Elmer Taylor, Dick Taylor, of Patterson, Calif., Wayne Taylor, of Congress, Ariz., and Dee Taylor; and two sisters, Vivian Uhl, of Olathe, Kan., and Norma Cornelius, of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Scott.

Memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House or Ames Women’s Club.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation service assisted with arrangements.
