THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 24, 2009.

Willard Raymond “Andy” Anderson, 90, of Ames, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his home. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 27, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. A luncheon will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Inurnment will be in Center Cemetery.

Andy was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Rush City, Minn., to William and Annette Anderson. He married Ruth Adkisson Aug. 23, 1944.

He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a professor of agricultural engineering at Iowa State University for 39 years; he retired in 1991. He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Story County Shrine Club and Story City American Legion. He earned his undergrad and master’s degrees at Iowa State University. He enjoyed welding, farming, conservation and especially his family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Ames; two daughters, Marilyn (Bill Tout) Anderson, of Ashland, Ore., and Marlene (Rick) Polmear, of Englewood, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David; four brothers; and one sister.

Memorials may be made to Israel Family Hospice House or St. Petri Lutheran Church.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
