THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, March 14, 2009.

Rivian Zeff, 89, of Boone, went home to heaven to be with her Lord Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Rivian Zeff was born Jan. 25, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., to Abe and Anna (Suloway) Simon. She received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and lived in the Chicago area for 50 years. She was married to Jack Zeff and had been an English teacher, homemaker and substitute teacher. Rivian had lived at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone for 10 years.

She was a loving mother, and loved being with family, entertaining, music and plays.

Survivors include two daughters, Anne Hrbek, of Ames, and Jan Zeff, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; sister-in-law, Renee Sullivan, of Chicago; five granddaughters, Karissa, Kylie, Alexis, Gracie and Ceci; three grandsons, Dan, Sean and Brennan; and niece, Jane Sullivan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mildred Berebitzky.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.
