THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, March 12, 2009.

Charles Wayne Osborn, 91, of Ames, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with the Rev. Randy Abell, of Heartland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Lunch will be served at Heartland Baptist Church following the burial.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.

Charles Wayne Osborn was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Ames, to George Lewis and Helen (Sevdy) Osborn. After returning from his service in the U.S. Army, he worked at Earl’s Garage for five years. He was a farmer for 53 years.

He married Vivian Drake April 5, 1941, in Alexandria, La. They were married for 66 years, a source of pride for Vivian. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Church. He loved to play cards, do woodworking and take bus trips. He never met a stranger and liked to talk.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Ames; one daughter, Susan (Jerry) Hall, of Waterloo; one sister, Aileen (Howard) Swanson, of LuVerne; one sister-in-law, Marcella Osborn, of McCallsburg; three grandchildren, Lisa (Andy) Webb, of Bettendorf, Laura (Tony) Stammler, of Waterloo, and Ryan Hall, of Waterloo; and three great-grandchildren, Myra and Maisie Webb, and Sophia Stammler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Archie.
