S. M. MCGRIFF, 86, DIES SUNDAY NIGHT
Sanford Milton McGriff, 86, who had made his home here with his son for the past nine years, died at 11:40 p. m. Sunday at the home of his son, C. V. McGriff, 1207 Duff avenue. He had been in poor health for some time.
He was born in Farmland City, Ind., June 1, 1849. He resided in Redfield, Ia., for 40 years before coming to Ames.
Surviving him are four sons, C. V., Ames; H. N., Gearing, Neb.; Silas O., Glendale, Cal., and George Albert, Redfield; one daughter, Mrs. Orpha J. Coulter. Owatonna, Minn.; one brother, Frank, Trenton, Mo., and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Redfield, and burial will be in the Redfield cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Duckworth Funeral home Monday evening.
