THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 10, 2009.

Julius “Jude” Stanley Johnson, 85, a longtime Story County area resident, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Jude was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Roland, the son of Lloyd A. and Anna Mae (Hill) Johnson. He graduated from Milford High School, where he participated in many athletic sports. He married Juanita Allen on Dec. 9, 1950, in Des Moines. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames. He farmed with his brother, Earl, early in farming days and had a dairy-milking herd for many years southeast of Ames. He enjoyed his stallion, Sam, watching RFD television, bull riding and cutting horse competitions, dancing, golfing, bowling, bus trips and attending local parades.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Johnson, of Ames, and their beloved dog Zoey; one sister, Lois Turkington, of Keizer, Ore.; one aunt, Arlotte Tjernagel, of Story City; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Juella Clark; and two brothers, Earl and Merrill Johnson.

Memorials may be directed to Ascension Lutheran Church in Ames.

Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
