THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, February 13, 2009.
Harold Dean Skank, 71, of Ames, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Adams Funeral Home.
Harold was born July 13, 1937, in Henderson, to Alma and Vera (Fritcher) Skank. He was a graduate of Henderson High School and Iowa State University. On Aug. 28, 1965, he married Frances Minot in Belgrade, Maine. He retired as an engineer from the ISU Ames Laboratory after 45 years. Harold was a member of Community of Christ Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Skank, of Ames; his mother, Vera Skank, of Oakland; three sons, George (Janelle) Hall-Skank, of Streamwood, Ill., James (Julie) Minot, of Madrid, and Nathan Skank, of Grimes; three grandchildren, Emmalie Hall-Skank, Nicholas Hall-Skank and Benjamin Hall-Skank, all of Streamwood, Ill.; and one sister, Jacqi (John) Allensworth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alma Skank; and one brother, Larry.
A memorial fund has been established.
