AMES – Luther Kinne, 72, formerly of LuVerne, Iowa, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Luther was born November 18, 1936 at Burnside, Iowa, the son of Henry and Lydia (Hinz) Kinne. After graduating from High School, Luther served in the Army. He then began farming with his father and continued farming at LuVerne, Iowa for many years. After retiring from farming, Luther lived in Arkansas, Colorado and Wyoming. He moved back to Iowa in mid December. Luther enjoyed farming, being with his family and friends, inventing tools and helping other people.

He is survived by 2 sons: Mark Kinne, Scott Kinne; 4 daughters: Julie Kinne, Tammy (Tim) Gridley, DaFawn Kinne, Susan (Roland)Gonzales; 3 grandchildren: Jessica Gridley, Christopher Kinne, Tyler Gonzales; 1 brother: Carl Kinne; and 1 sister: Carol Trampel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Don and James; and a sister: Lillian Neimeyer.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the Zion Lutheran Church at LuVerne, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Luther Kinne Memorial Fund.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is handling arrangements.
