THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 18, 2009.

Maryann Pearce, 82, of Slater, departed from this life Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009. She died at Riverside Manor in Ames of advanced Alzheimer’s. A memorial celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at United Methodist Church of Slater. Her cremains will be laid to rest next to her husband in Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz.

The family will receive friends for a coffee fellowship at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, an hour prior to the celebration at the church.

Maryann Florene Pearce was born July 8, 1926, in Perry, to Henry A. and Florence E. (Gilbert) Gettman. She married Charles M. Pearce May 30, 1948. To their union were born two sons. Charles died June 21, 1989.

Maryann is survived by one son, Jon, of Slater; one brother, Jack (Betty) Gettman, of Mendon, Ill.; one sister, Helen Bohen, of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband; one son, Franklin; one brother, Howard Schrepel; and one sister, Jean.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Good Grief, INC — In the Name of Christ — End of Life Services in Slater.
