THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, January 18, 2009.

Marjorie Hobson, 83, of Nevada, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.

Marjorie Hobson, 83, of Nevada, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at First United Methodist Church in Nevada. Burial was in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday, Jan. 19, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. An Order of the Eastern Star Service followed the visitation.

Marjorie was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Des Moines, the daughter of Cecil and Bessie (McDivitt) Breeden. She grew up in Urbandale, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Open Bible Institute and worked at Colonial Bakery until moving to Nevada upon her marriage to Bob Hobson on Sept. 15, 1956. She was a computer operator at Donnelley Marketing until retiring in 1990. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, Blue Grass festivals and her granddaughters. She was known for her neighborhood garage sales. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nevada, Nevada Historical Society and Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, of Nevada; her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda Hobson, of Nevada; two granddaughters, Leah Hobson, of Troy, Ohio, and Rebecca Hobson, of Nevada; one brother, Lloyd Breeden, of Marshalltown; and two sisters, Edna (Harold) Jacobs, of Urbandale, and Darlene Beavers, of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Nevada and to Israel Family Hospice House.

Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory of Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
