Nov. 21, 1931-Jan. 10, 2009

Catherine Willadean Thom, 77, of Cambridge, died Saturday, Jan. 10, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

Catherine was born Nov. 21, 1931, in La Plata, Mo., to Samuel Lewin and Rose May Gash. She graduated from La Plata High School in 1949. She married Philip M. Thom on April 25, 1953, in Racine, Wis. She was a homemaker and lived in Cambridge since 1967. She loved to read and to garden.

She is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Kathy, of Cambridge, and their sons, Jacob and Michael, of Ames; son, Matthew, and his daughter, Shaunacey, of Ames; son, Andrew, and his wife, Lisa, of Maple Grove, Minn., and their son, Trevor, of Niceville, Fla., and their daughter, Trisha, of Ames; daughter, Carolyn, and her husband, Fivos Drymiotis, and their son, Philippos, and daughter, Irida, of Seneca, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1986; three brothers; and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House or Colonial Manor in Zearing.
