THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, January 9, 2009.

March 9, 1929-Jan. 8, 2009

Margaret Oberhokamp, 79, of Radcliffe, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe.

Margaret was born March 9, 1929, to Harold and Edith Shaw, at the home of her grandparents in Rockwell City. She graduated in 1947 from Eldora High School in Eldora. On April 18, 1948, she married Melvin Oberhokamp at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hubbard. They farmed in several areas of Hardin County until 1961 when they moved to the family farm south of Radcliffe in Hamilton County, where Melvin continues to reside. Margaret moved to the Bethany Life Communities in July 2008. In addition to being a lifelong homemaker, she worked at Dr. Arlen Zierke's veterinary office in Hubbard for a few years, then as a nurse's aide at the Story City Hospital for 13 1/2 years before retiring.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, and was active in the church for many years, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and participating in ALCW activities.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, are five children, Roger Oberhokamp, of Collins, Kathy (Terry) Clark, of Cambridge, Linda Cerka, of Littleton, Colo., Randy (Paula) Oberhokamp, of Rhodes, and Lisa (Brian) Roggendorf, of Marion; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, H. James (Nancy) Shaw, of St. Johnsville, N.Y.; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joan (Don) Risdal, of Atkins; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Wright.
